The West region contractor is TriWest Healthcare Alliance, which took over January 1, 2025, when Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin also moved from East to West. TRICARE is two tier: first get TRICARE certified (authorized) by your regional contractor, a federal step required in each state of service, which lets you treat Select, Reserve Select, and TRICARE for Life beneficiaries as a non network provider. Seeing Prime patients and being listed requires the second step, signing a network contract, which adds credentialing.
Behavioral health routing: Behavioral providers follow the same certify then contract path. ABA runs through a separate Autism Care Corporate Service Provider application.
The stall to avoid: Certification is not network participation. Many providers stop at authorized status and wonder why they are not in the directory: the network contract is a separate ask, and network intake can be closed for some specialties while open for behavioral health.
From PayerReady's payer enrollment research, built from the payer's own provider manuals and enrollment pages. Payer processes change; when a fact is not published by the payer, we say so rather than guess.

Common questions about TRICARE West Region (TriWest Healthcare Alliance) credentialing
How long does TRICARE West Region (TriWest Healthcare Alliance) credentialing take?
TRICARE West Region (TriWest Healthcare Alliance) credentialing typically takes 30–60 days from a complete submission to an approved effective date. Incomplete applications are the main cause of delay: a missing document or an unattested CAQH profile restarts the clock rather than pausing it.
Does TRICARE West Region (TriWest Healthcare Alliance) require CAQH?
Yes. TRICARE West Region (TriWest Healthcare Alliance) pulls provider data from CAQH ProView, so your profile must be complete, attested and shared with TRICARE West Region (TriWest Healthcare Alliance) before the application can move. CAQH re-attestation runs on a 120-day cycle, and a lapsed attestation stalls both new enrollments and recredentialing.
Which states does TRICARE West Region (TriWest Healthcare Alliance) operate in?
TRICARE West Region (TriWest Healthcare Alliance) has credentialing operations in 20 states. 20 of those 20 currently show an open panel. Requirements are not uniform: local plan names, provider portals and state-specific conditions differ, which is what the state-by-state table above records.
