Complication or Comorbidity (CC) and Major Complication or Comorbidity (MCC) designations on inpatient diagnoses that drive MS-DRG assignment. 18,389 ICD-10-CM codes carry CC or MCC status. Documenting one MCC on an inpatient claim can shift the DRG to a higher-weighted version, often a 30 to 80 percent payment increase.
